Start Close In

A thoughtful space deserves clear boundaries.

Start Close In is an AI reflection and decision-support tool. It is not therapy, a medical service, or a substitute for professional advice. You remain in charge of your decisions.

Your reflections

Before you create an account, your notebook is saved in this browser when browser storage is available. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to read it. Clearing site data removes that local copy. Signed-in notebooks can be saved to your account.

When you send a message, image, audio recording, or exercise reflection to the guide, that content is processed by OpenAI to generate a response. Voice uses OpenAI’s real-time audio service. Research requests use web search; avoid including identifying or sensitive details in search queries. Generated images are sent to your browser.

Service providers

We use Vercel for hosting, OpenAI for AI features, Clerk for accounts, Supabase for account notebooks and service usage limits, and Resend for summaries you choose to email. Provider processing and retention policies apply; this service does not promise end-to-end encryption or confidential clinical care.

Free tools and the public library

The standalone decision tools save their drafts in this browser. They do not send your inputs to an AI service or our database. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see those drafts; use each tool’s clear action or clear site data to remove them. Downloads stay under your control. The public library and MCP endpoint provide our published exercises, articles, and tool descriptions. They cannot read your notebook, tool inputs, or account.

Analytics

PostHog and Google Analytics measure basic product events such as opening an exercise. We disable session replay, automatic interaction capture, and advertising personalization. We do not intentionally send your conversation, exercise answers, uploads, name, or email to analytics.

Optional ad measurement

When advertising measurement is configured, our public home, tools, library, and journal index pages offer a separate choice. If you allow it, a small Meta pixel request records a public-page visit or a click to begin a reflection. That click is an entry event, not evidence that you created an account or completed an exercise. We send only the event name and the public index URL, without query strings or a referrer. Meta receives browser and connection information, which can include an IP address and existing Meta cookies subject to your browser settings.

This measurement does not run in the reflection workspace, individual tools, or article pages. We do not load Meta’s advertising JavaScript SDK, use advanced matching, or send your name, email, questions, answers, or notebook content. You can change the choice on a public index page. Withdrawing permission stops future requests; it cannot recall events already sent. Meta’s privacy and retention policies apply.

Your choices

You can download your notebook and delete its saved contents from the notebook menu. Deleting your notebook removes the application’s active copy; it does not guarantee immediate removal from provider backups or operational records. You can manage your account through the account menu.

Using the guide

Start Close In is intended for adults 18 and over. AI can make mistakes, and research may be incomplete. Check important claims and consider qualified support for medical, legal, financial, or mental-health matters. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the US or Canada, call or text 988 for crisis support.
